Sam Hayes is a writer and director from Chicago. He started his career in fiction, with his first novel, “The Weather Man,” being published by Amazon White Glove on New Years of 2017. The Nerdist’s Alpha Book Club called it “a roaring, soaring existential crisis,” while SyFy Network reported “a haunting portrait of 2018 America, painted with all the flying colors of 2076.”

After the release, Sam began to focus more on writing screenplays and filmmaking. His experimental comedy short film premiered at Mammoth Film Fest in 2019. He wrote halloween comedy “Costumes Required,” which was optioned by Seth McFarlane’s Fuzzy Door Productions in 2020, with Nina Dobrev producing and playing a role. He has since gotten it back and will be producing on the project himself.

Sam wrote, directed, and produced “Pools,” a coming-of-age story about pool-hopping, which boasts an ensemble cast of young rising stars, led by Odessa A’zion (Hellraiser 2022), with Mason Gooding (Scream, Booksmart), Ariel Winter (Modern Family), Tyler Alvarez (Crush, Blockbuster 2022), Michael Vlamis (Roswell: NM), Francesca Noel (R#J), and Suzanne Cryer (Silicon Valley).The film was scored by 2022 Grammy Nominated Artist and composer, Cody Fry, alongside award-winning music supervisor Peymon Maskan (The Fallout). Pools is Sam’s feature directorial debut.

Sam recently produced “Crossword," starring Michael Vlamis (Roswell: NM), Aurora Perrineau (Westworld), and Harvey Guillen (What we do in the Shadows, Marvel's Blue Beetle), in partnership with Keenan Thompson’s new Artists for Artists production company, alongside Executive Producer Alex Chi (Blue Bayou). Sam is represented by Bash Naran at WME.
